Stages of SSC CHSL Exam
SSC CHSL Exam Pattern is divided into three stages, namely, the Tier I Exam, Tier II Exam, and Tier III Exam.

3. Tier 3 Exam | A Skill Test/Typing Test, conducted to evaluate a candidate’s typing speed and accuracy. |
4. Document Verification | Candidates who qualify the Tier 1, 2 and 3 exams will have to undergo document verification. |
Tier I Exam: Objective Type MCQs
The Tier I Exam is an objective type multiple-choice questions (MCQs) examination that consists of four sections:
- General Intelligence & Reasoning
- General Awareness
- Quantitative Aptitude
- English Language
Each section consists of 25 questions, and the total number of questions in the Tier I Exam is 100. The examination is held online and is of a duration of 60 minutes. The questions are based on topics covered in class X and XII, and the marking scheme for the Tier I Exam is 1 mark for each correct answer and 0.25 marks are deducted for each incorrect answer.
Tier II Exam: Descriptive Type Paper
The Tier II Exam is a descriptive type paper that consists of two sections:
- English Language & Comprehension
- Quantitative Abilities
The English Language & Comprehension section consists of 200-250 words, and the Quantitative Abilities section consists of short answer questions. The examination is held online, and the duration of the Tier II Exam is 60 minutes. The marking scheme for the Tier II Exam is 100 marks, and the minimum qualifying marks are 33% for General Category candidates and 25% for reserved category candidates.
Tier III Exam: Skill Test/Typing Test
The Tier III Exam is a skill test/typing test that is held for the posts that require specific skills, such as Data Entry Operator, Lower Division Clerk, and Postal Assistant/Sorting Assistant. The skill test/typing test is of a duration of 15 minutes, and the minimum qualifying marks are 35 WPM for English typing and 30 WPM for Hindi typing.
